Personally Identifiable Information
Personally Identifiable Information (PII) is information about a
person that is readily identifiable to that specific individual.
PII includes such things as an individual's name, address and phone
number. A domain name or Internet Protocol address is not
considered PII.
LED only collects PII if you voluntarily participate in an
activity that asks for information, i.e., sending an email, signing
up to receive email, providing information at events, registering
or participating in a listserv, participating in a survey, or
obtaining a state service online (Louisiana E-Mall Privacy
Statement). LED does not rent or sell PII.
If you choose not to participate in these activities, your
choice will in no way affect your ability to use any other feature
of the LED website. If personal information is requested on the
website or volunteered by the user, state law and the federal
Privacy Act of 1974 may protect it. However, this information is a
public record once you provide it, and may be subject to public
inspection and copying if not protected by federal or state law.
Users are cautioned that the collection of personal information
requested from or volunteered by children online or by email will
be treated the same as information given by an adult and may be
subject to public access. LED does not solicit information from
minors or use measures to determine whether information submitted
is collected from a minor. Therefore, information will not be able
to be identified as being provided by minors and users are
cautioned that the collection of personal information requested
from or volunteered by children online or by email will be treated
the same as information given by an adult, and may be subject to
public access. As a government body, LED is required to maintain as
public record many documents under the Freedom of Information Act.
Therefore, information submitted on this website is a public record
once provided, and may be subject to public inspection and copying
if not protected by federal or state law.

Access for everyone*
It's really about doing the right thing. It's about helping 65
million Americans with disabilities achieve transparent access to
information. Aging baby boomers now in the workforce will need some
of the technology solutions emerging from Section 508 efforts. The
state of Louisiana works to ensure access for disabled citizens and
employees to information, technology, state facilities, and parks
and other recreational opportunities
Follow federal accessibility
guidelines
Federal officials say adhering to Section 508 regulations and
improving accessibility for people with disabilities make good
business sense. Enabling everyone to do their jobs, using the tools
that help them best do their jobs, is simply good business and
helps individuals become fully integrated into the workplace.
The purpose of this web
page
Although not required by regulation or law, the Office of
Information Technology (OIT) seeks to bring State of Louisiana
websites into basic compliance with Section 508 code by providing
the necessary information to State of Louisiana webmasters and
designers, to enable this to comply with the Section 508 Standard
of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, as amended (29 U.S.C. 794d).
Section 508 requires that when federal agencies develop, procure,
maintain, or use electronic and information technology, federal
employees with disabilities have access and use of information and
data that are comparable to the access and use by Federal employees
who are not individuals with disabilities, unless an undue burden
would be imposed on the agency. These provisions of the standards
provide the requirements that must be followed by federal agencies.
Compliance requires adherence to the Section 508 Standard, Section (1194.22) Paragraphs
A through P. To assist with implementation of Section 508
requirements, the following resources are available:
