Leading Companies To Be Recognized For Manufacturing Excellence
LED announces 2010 Lantern Award
winners
BATON ROUGE, La. -- Louisiana Economic Development will honor
the 2010 Lantern Award winners at a private reception at the
Governor's Mansion on Tuesday, June 15. Lantern Award winners will
be honored for their excellence in manufacturing and community
involvement.
"I want to commend this year's Lantern Award winners for their
contributions to Louisiana's economy and their commitment to
excellence," said LED Secretary Stephen Moret. "These successful
companies help to strengthen our manufacturing competitiveness and
are a testament to our innovative workforce and the value of the
products made in Louisiana."
Lantern Award winners are selected by the Regional Planning and
Development Districts based on contributions to their local
communities, including employment growth and facility expansion.
Each business must also demonstrate sustainability by remaining in
operation at least three years prior to the nomination.
The 2010 Lantern Award winners include: Cameron International,
Ville Platte, Acadiana Region; Game Equipment LLC, Napoleonville,
Bayou Region; Criterion Catalysts & Technologies L.P., Port
Allen, Capital Region; Hanley Gremillion Millwork and Supply Inc.,
Alexandria, Central Region; Gardner Denver Thomas, Monroe,
Northeast Region; Almond Brothers Lumber Co., Coushatta, Northwest
Region; Windward Inc., Slidell, Southeast Region; and Brask Inc.,
Sulphur, Southwest Region.
As part of the award ceremony, the Louisiana Quality Foundation
will also recognize its 2010 Louisiana Performance Excellence Award
winner, DynMcDermott Petroleum Operations Co.
Since LED launched the Lantern Awards in 1979, the program has
recognized more than 250 Louisiana manufacturing businesses. LED's
partners for the awards include the Louisiana Industrial
Development Executives Association and the Louisiana Quality
Foundation.
Award winners receive lanterns handcrafted and provided by
Bevolo Gas and Electric Lights in New Orleans, which have been a
trademark of New Orleans since 1945. Bevolo is the oldest, largest
copper gas lantern manufacturer in the U.S. and the second oldest
in the world.
